Who publishes it

Best2Retire is published by Abontu LLC. The site is supported by advertising. Advertising does not influence the rankings or the content.

How the text is produced

The written content is a mix. Some pages were written mainly by the editor. Others were drafted with AI tools and then edited. AI tools were also used to reformat material into consistent layouts.

AI-drafted text can contain mistakes, such as a wrong name, an outdated fee, or a facility that has since closed. For that reason we are checking pages against official sources one at a time. Where we rely on a fact, we link to the official source when we can.

Review dates: when a page has been checked, it shows a "Last reviewed" date. A page without one is marked "Not yet re-reviewed" and has not yet been fully re-checked. The site updates page records what has changed and when, including that the site was rebuilt in November 2026. Treat details such as prices, opening times, phone numbers, tax rates and local facilities as things to confirm with the official source before you act on them.

How the numbers and rankings are produced

The state data (taxes, crime rates, cost-of-living indexes and so on) and the ranking method are described on How we rank, including which figures are calculated directly and which rankings are the editor's own weighted composites. Some of the data is not current; that page says which.

Images

Most images on this site are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs of the actual place. They are labelled as such. They are decorative and should not be used to judge what a location really looks like. If we use a real photograph, the caption names its source.

Corrections

If you find an error, please tell us. We check reports and correct verified errors. When a page has been rechecked, its "Last reviewed" date is updated.
